So yeah, great sign that the precon in itself will be well-designed, I love these two. He was always more interested in Hullbreaker Horrors than Scions of Ooona. Formerly, my commander was Nymris, but he had those exact two problems: he would have been optimal as straight-up control yet never cared about faeries enough either, even though he was obviously made to do what faeries do best interact at instant-speed. She cares about faeries in that she always wants to trigger her ability and needs her accomplices to properly disrupt your opponents, but she is not acruing insane value or hard-controlling on her own. However, this has always been the faerie-playstyle in constructed/limited, so I am extremely happy that I think they absolutely nailed it with the new Alela and found a great translation of the faerie-playstyle. It is incredibly hard to translate tempo-decks into EDH as one-for-one exchanges and disruption often only include two players while you are not interacting with the others at the table. Secondly, and I think this was always the more fun path to go on in regards to faeries: trickstery tempo-plays which give you value for disrupting your opponents' plans. Formerly, Oona was the chief of this style of deck, but she just isn't focussed on faeries enough to really justify her most of the time, as much as I love the card. The one path has always been jamming all the faeries you can find into your deck (some are really not optimal), Tegwyll will take on this mantle bar none. Somebody at WotC is very aware of the two paths fairies tend to take, but for which they never had a superb choice. I've been waiting so long for a great faerie-commander, I was not ready to get two at once! r/magicTCG is not produced, endorsed, supported by, or affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.
